Fully Restored, Show-Ready and Road-Worthy with Rare Factory A/C
An exceptional blend of muscle and refinement, this 1971 Chevelle SS Convertible has undergone a comprehensive restoration and is ready to impress—whether you're on the show circuit or enjoying top-down weekend drives.
Big Block Power: Factory 396 (badged), actually the desirable 402 CI V8, producing 300 HP, paired with a 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust for that unmistakable muscle car sound.
True Driver’s Setup: 4-Speed Manual Transmission (wide ratio M-20) with a Hurst Shifter, delivering crisp shifts and a classic driving experience.
Performance Rear End: Equipped with a 12-bolt rear axle and 3.55:1 gearing, offering a perfect balance of acceleration and cruising ability.
Two sets of Wheels and Tires (Original 14" SS wheels for show & 18" Front 20" Rear Chrome - better for touring)
Restored Inside & Out: black convertible top and mirror-gloss clear coat paint mostly free of imperfections—this car presents beautifully from every angle.
Rare & Functional Factory Air: Original factory A/C system has been upgraded to modern 134a refrigerant—ice cold and rarely found in convertible muscle cars of this era.
Eye-Catching Exterior
Finished in a stunning red exterior with bold black racing stripes, this Chevelle exudes attitude and sophistication. The deep gloss of the clear coat enhances every curve of the body, while the color contrast between the red paint and black top/stripes makes this SS an absolute standout. It’s a showstopper both in motion and parked.
Rare Factory Air – A True Collector’s Option
Out of more than 5,000 Chevelle convertibles built in 1971, fewer than 8% were optioned with factory air conditioning, making this already desirable SS 396 even more valuable and rare. Most convertibles were built for performance or style—but very few received the added cost and complexity of A/C, especially in a top-down car. The fact that this system remains intact and operational—now upgraded for modern refrigerant—elevates this car into an elite category for collectors seeking originality and comfort.
Restoring a car of this caliber was no quick process. Countless hours were invested over several years to bring this Chevelle back to its former glory—with no corners cut and no detail overlooked. From drivetrain to trim, every component was inspected, rebuilt, or replaced with precision. Finding period-correct parts—especially for a convertible with factory A/C—was a challenge in itself, requiring patience, resources, and expertise. The result is not just a beautiful car, but a fully sorted, show-ready machine that’s also a thrill to drive and enjoy
